SwimGoals is an app that helps swimmers set better goals by using Power Points. Power Points allow swimmers to measure the quality of their swims across strokes, distances, and ages. SwimGoals gives athletes the ability to set goals by using Power Points from past seasons to predict times for future ones.

The app is user-friendly; set the event, swimmer’s age, swimmer’s gender, and time, and the Power Points will instantly calculate. If you modify the time OR Power Points, the other calculations automatically adjust. Once you are accustomed to calculating your Power Points, the next step is to use SwimGoals to build your goals…

Goal Setting
Enter your best time and calculate your Power Points. Then switch add one year to the age setting and SwimGoals will calculate your baseline goal for the next year.

Or, put in a future time goal (maybe a qualifying meet cut, a junior nationals time when you are 18, your high school record) then dial back the age to what you will be at the end of this season to get an intermediate goal.

Evaluating a Swim
It can be challenging to judge the quality of an individual swim in the moment. Your evaluation is often impacted by what other swimmers did, your previous best time, or the gap between your current time and your eventual goal. Sometimes it is hard to understand that being further away from your personal best in a 200 than a 100, may not mean the 100 is a better accomplishment. The 200 may actually be a better swim, or may prove that you are further along in that race at that particular point in the season than you were last year. Using Power Points to quantify the quality of a swim can take the guess work out of it.

Meters/Yards Time Conversion
Even the best time conversion calculators do not take into consideration that switching between short course yards and long course meters is different depending on age and skill level. With SwimGoals you get a personalized conversion; just flip the event from SCY to LCM and your time is calculated automatically
